Good Friday Children's workshop

Yesterday saw another successful Good Friday kids workshop in Priory House.  It was lovely to welcome 22 children aged between 4 and 8 (and their parents at the end of the day) and to have the chance to celebrate the story of Easter with them.

During the day the youngsters made a variety of craft items, including donkey models and masks, Easter bird houses, crosses and palm leaves.  Our 'HOSANNA' placard is on display at the back of the Priory so do have a look if you have the chance.  They also had a go at icing and decorating cakes and biscuits and making chocolate Easter nests with real chocolate eggs!

We also learnt some new songs and everyone showed us how loudly and well they can sing!  I have little voice left today (which some may say is a good thing!!!).   I look forward to the next Second Sunday service when I hope they'll join in as well again.

The day finished with family worship with a story about a donkey called Hannah, prayers and poems led by the children and singing & dancing.

Many thanks to Frances for organising the day and Anita and Wendy for their help (we couldn't have done it without you).  I think everyone had a fab time and we all had a chance to remember the sacrifice our Lord made for us and a chance to celebrate the true meaning of Easter.

Thanks to everyone for coming and see you all on  April 13th in Priory Hall.

Easter blessings to all.

Meeting 10th March

We had a good meeting last night at the George reviewing last Sunday's service and looking ahead to April's.

Topics that came up included the prayer time and different ways we might do this in the future and how we can incorporate both personal and corporate and beyond intercessionary prayer. We thought about having a prayer box that we could put intercessions in which would be held up to God as part of the prayer but not read out. For those who can't make the next service but would like such a prayer to be included they can contact us. I'll sort an email via the Priory Church website and post it to this blog shortly.

We also thought it would be good to pray for our various areas of work and living that we're involved in in the area. What came through strongly was our need to be open to the Holy Spirit through out not only the time of prayer but also the service as a whole, whilst ensuring at the same time that the structure of the service remains coherent and easy for everyone to know where we're at.

We also talked about how we're very much keen for the mums and dads who take the little ones through to Tina and Duncan, that once the children are comfortable and settled that the mums and dads come back into the main hall so as not to miss the address and prayer time. We also wanted to reassure any parents worried about the gurgles and squeaks, especially the little ones might make, not to worry about it.

The readings for April will be posted shortly.

Time for breakfast!

Second Sunday, 8th March

We're continuing our way through the gospel according to Luke as we travel with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem. As we do we're exploring what it means to be a disciple of Christ today.

The Scripture we will be reading and meditating on is Genesis18:1-10a and Luke 10:38-42.

Do use the comments facility to add your thoughts and reflections on these passages after the service.
